2015 3rd Rock Sauvignon Blanc

Certified organic, the stylish, tightly structured 2015 vintage (5*) was estate-grown at Rapaura and mostly handled in tanks; 12 per cent of the blend was fermented with indigenous yeasts in seasoned oak casks. Ripely scented and weighty, it is vibrant and intense, with tropical fruit flavours to the fore, showing excellent delicacy and depth, firm acid spine, barrel-ferment complexity and a crisp, lasting finish. A fresh, concentrated, harmonious wine with strong personality, it's still youthful; drink now or cellar. 5 stars – Michael Cooper’s Buyers Guide 2016

This is delicately aromatic and firmly structured, exhibiting grapefruit, lemon pith, flint and dill characters on the nose. The palate shows excellent fruit concentration and fine texture, brilliantly supported by racy acidity. A restrained, savoury and refined rendition of the variety. At its best: now to 2020. June 2016. 93 points, 5 stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

2014 3rd Rock Chardonnay

Certified organic, the 2014 vintage (5*), re-tasted in June 2016, is currently delicious. Estate-grown in The Corners Vineyard, at Rapaura, it was hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts in a French oak cuve, and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Bright, light lemon/green, it is rich, ripe and rounded, with a fragrant bouquet, good weight and very generous, peachy, citrusy, mealy flavours, gently seasoned with oak. A very harmonious, creamy-textured wine, it's lovely now, but also worth cellaring. Fine value. 5 stars - Michael Cooper’s Buyers Guide 2016

4 stars 18/202010 Trig Hill Riesling

Raymond Chan

Bright, pale straw colour with some green hues, pale on rim. The nose is very fresh and aromatic with lifted white florals and subtle lime notes, along with distinctive mineral elements, building in intensity, revealing nuances of toast. Dry to taste, this is tightly bound and very delicately flavoured. White florals, mouthwatering minerals, a suggestion of sweet and sour, with hints of toast form a refined, linear core. The mouthfeel and texture is soft and the palate is one of finesse. Ripe acidity is a feature and carries the detailed flavours of minerals, florals and toast to a dry, smooth finish with nuances of bitter lime fruit. This is a very refined and delicately flavoured, dry Riesling with minerality and hints of toastiness. Serve as an aperitif and with Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Trig Hill’ vineyard, Bendigo, hand-picked, WBP and cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 6.9 g/L rs. 18.0+/20 Jul 2013 RRP $35.00

Light straw colour; smoky, nutty, barrel-fermented style bouquet, with honeyed nuances that appear more strongly in the mouth. A well worked wine, not especially sauvignon-like, but intense, deep and quite complex, with a lot of honeyed, secondary complexities. Long, rich and rewarding. 11/6/2015 Drink 2015 to 2019. 90 points - Huon Hooke, huonhooke.com

Full of personality, the generous, non-vintage (5*) released in 2016 is a blend of Marlborough and Central Otago base wines, fermented initially in old oak and stainless steel barrels. Disgorged after three and a half years on its yeast lees, it is pale straw, with a fine, persistent 'bead'. The bouquet is fragrant, yeasty and biscuity; the palate rich, lively and appetisingly crisp, with strong, peachy, citrusy, biscuity, yeasty flavours, showing excellent complexity and richness, and a dryish (6 grams/litre residual sugar), finely balanced finish. 5 stars – Michael Cooper’s Buyers Guide 2016

2011 Rock Ferry Central Otago Brut Rose

Pale salmon colour. An exquisitely styled methode traditionnelle; the delicately fragrant bouquet shows white stone fruit, lemon peel, yeast and brioche characters with a touch of ripe strawberry. It is finely textured and beautifully weighted on the palate, and offers elegant mouthfeel and juicy acidity. Fabulously long, attractive and engaging. At its best: now to 2020. 94 pts 5 stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.

Moderately deep salmon-pink colour .... the bead very fine ... The bouquet is soft and full with a good core of strawberries and soft, red fruits, harmoniously melded with subtle toasty and bready autolysis. This has good presence from the Pinot Noir, and unfolds red florals, cherry fruit, herbs and earthy complexities. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is gently luscious, enlivened by soft effervescence ... hints of earth and herbs ... Soft phenolics and integrated acidity provide structure, and the wine carries to a soft, thirst-quenching, dry finish. 17.5-/20 Oct 2015. 4 Stars Raymond Chan Wine Reviews.
