2013 Rock Ferry Marlborough Pinot Gris

Pear and soapy perfume, lychee, pineapple. Medium bodied, plenty of flavour, acidity sits outside the wine a little – kind of passionfruity to taste – then a light dusting of talc-like tannin. Savoury finish of good length. Good. Drink : 2014 – 2017. Rated : 90 Pts, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

This stylish pinot gris shows lovely lifted aromas of stone fruit, pear, floral and a hint of spice notes. The palate is rounded with excellent fruit weight, brilliantly structured by bright acidity. A lovely dry style showing abundance of attractive flavours. At its best: now to 2018. Certified organic. 91 pts 4.5 stars Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.

The 2013 vintage (4½ stars) is sturdy and generous, with good complexity from handling in tanks and barrels. A concentrated wine, with an array of peach, pear, ginger and spice flavours and a finely textured, dry finish, it's drinking well now. Certified organic. Michael Coopers Buyer’s Guide.

The wine is fresh with soft acidity and possesses some underlying alcoholic drive, and flows smoothly with good liveliness, carrying the flavours to a long, lingering finish. This is an elegant and lively, finely concentrated dry Pinot Gris with good linearity and flow. Serve with poultry and pork dishes, and Asian fare over the next 3-4 years. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0+/20 Jan 2015 4 stars. Raymond Chan Wine Reviews.

2013 Rock Ferry Marlborough Pinot Blanc

Something like two vineyards of pinot blanc in the whole of Marlborough. Here’s one. I like pinot blanc, when done well. Neutral, almost light vanilla perfume, touch of nuttiness, green apple. Smells good. Unusual texture, but one I often find in pinot blanc – almost squeaky. Good length of flavour, finishes with nuttiness, touch of lemony zing. A kind of bruised apple, bruised pear flavour profile throughout – not untoward, just noted. Excellent drinking. Satisfies thirst and curiousity. Reward difference. Drink : 2014 - 2018. Rated : 93 Points – Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

A beautifully expressed rendition of the variety, the elegantly fragrant bouquet shows aromas of white peach, mandarin, floral and almond, which lead to a lovely weighted palate that's richly textured and lingering. At its best: now to 2018. Certified organic. 91 pts 4.5 stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Certified organic, the 2013 vintage (4 stars) is a single-vineyard wine, fermented in tanks (88 per cent) and barrels (12 per cent). Fresh, mouthfilling and dryish (6 grams/litre of residual sugar), with strong, ripe, peachy, faintly toasty flavours, and a slightly creamy texture, it's delicious young, but also worth cellaring. Michael Coopers Buyer’s Guide

This is a soft, dry Pinot Blanc with gentle richness and nutty interest. Match with antipasto and most white meat courses over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Orchard’ vineyard, WBP and predominantly stainless-steel fermented with 12% by indigenous yeasts in seasoned puncheons to 13.5% alc. 4 stars - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

2013 Rock Ferry Marlborough Riesling

Delicate, pure and elegant, the bouquet shows white peach, lemon pith, floral and a hint of flinty characters. The concentrated and focused palate is linear and finely textured, backed by whispering sweetness and bright acidity. A fabulous dry riesling filled with pristine flavours, and finishes extremely long. At its best: now to 2023. Certified organic. 94 pts 5 stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

High-toned floral notes, touch of stone fruit nectar, honeysuckle, a gentle sweet-richness, but offset with a kind of freshly-washed-sheets-on-the-line scent. Has a slipperiness to texture, but immediately offset by a tingly acidity and a puff of talc-like minerality. Really easy and pleasing to drink, some curves, but a freshness through finish. Good yin n yang here between sweetness and acidity; fine tuned. Drink : 2014 – 2024. Rated : 91+ Points Mike Bennie – The Wine Front

The 2013 vintage (4 stars) is a mouthfilling, concentrated, dryish wine (6 grams/litre of residual sugar), with strong, ripe flavours, showing a touch of complexity, and a well-rounded finish. Good food wine. Certified organic. Michael Coopers Buyer’s Guide

Raymond Chan

Bright, pale straw colour with some green hues, pale on rim. The nose is very fresh and aromatic with lifted white florals and subtle lime notes, along with distinctive mineral elements, building in intensity, revealing nuances of toast. Dry to taste, this is tightly bound and very delicately flavoured. White florals, mouthwatering minerals, a suggestion of sweet and sour, with hints of toast form a refined, linear core. The mouthfeel and texture is soft and the palate is one of finesse. Ripe acidity is a feature and carries the detailed flavours of minerals, florals and toast to a dry, smooth finish with nuances of bitter lime fruit. This is a very refined and delicately flavoured, dry Riesling with minerality and hints of toastiness. Serve as an aperitif and with Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Trig Hill’ vineyard, Bendigo, hand-picked, WBP and cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 6.9 g/L rs. 18.0+/20 Jul 2013 RRP $35.00

Light straw colour; smoky, nutty, barrel-fermented style bouquet, with honeyed nuances that appear more strongly in the mouth. Pale salmon colour. An exquisitely styled methode traditionnelle; the delicately fragrant bouquet shows white stone fruit, lemon peel, yeast and brioche characters with a touch of ripe strawberry. It is finely textured and beautifully weighted on the palate, and offers elegant mouthfeel and juicy acidity. Fabulously long, attractive and engaging. At its best: now to 2020. 94 pts 5 stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.

Moderately deep salmon-pink colour .... the bead very fine ... The bouquet is soft and full with a good core of strawberries and soft, red fruits, harmoniously melded with subtle toasty and bready autolysis. This has good presence from the Pinot Noir, and unfolds red florals, cherry fruit, herbs and earthy complexities. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is gently luscious, enlivened by soft effervescence ... hints of earth and herbs ... Soft phenolics and integrated acidity provide structure, and the wine carries to a soft, thirst-quenching, dry finish. 17.5-/20 Oct 2015. 4 Stars Raymond Chan Wine Reviews.
