Viticulture

Our aim in the vineyard is to grow the best fruit we can so it can speak of its home and express its personality. To do this you need healthy vines and soil. By practicing organics and incorporating some biodynamic principles we believe we are doing our best to help achieve this and let our vineyards evolve and speak as they would like.

Winemaking

The hand harvested grapes were whole bunch pressed. The cloudy juice was settled overnight then racked the following day to a French oak Cuve for the natural fermentation to start. Once fermentation was finished the wine was transferred to French barriques (30% new) and matured on yeast lees for 9 months, with regular stirring to increase the wine’s texture. A natural malolactic fermentation (to 80%) took place in spring and the wine was then racked before fining with organic milk, filtration and bottling.

2013 Rock Ferry Corners Vineyard Chardonnay

The wine is immediately appealing on the nose displaying gorgeous aromas of yellow peach, mango, rockmelon and vanillin oak with subtle nougat notes. It is powerfully expressed on the palate, and delivers superb mid palate weight and rich fruit intensity, brilliantly enhanced by creamy texture and seamlessly integrated acidity. Refined, symphonic and delectable. At its best: now to 2021. 95 pts 5 stars – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Toasty, biscuit-like flavours, with tastes of grapefruit, citrus and nutty oak. Quite a rich and warming wine, with some warmth from moderately high alcohol. A complex and quite elegant wine with a smooth and satisfying texture. Has potential to develop 1/12/2015 Drink 2015 to 2020. 92 pts 4 stars - Bob Campbell Master of Wine
