Our aim in the vineyard is to grow the best fruit we can so it can speak of its home and express its personality. To do this you need healthy vines and soil. By practicing organics and incorporating some biodynamic principles we believe we are doing our best to help achieve this and let our vineyards evolve and speak as they would like.

In Central Otago? Yes and it’s a lot of fun. This is not the bigger style of Tempranillo you may find from Spain, but expressive of our vineyard and region. Made in small volumes with sensitive winemaking we aim to let the variety speak for itself. The Tempranillo is de-stemmed into open top French cuves where it cold soaks for a week before it spontaneously ferments, lasting for about 3 weeks. It is then pressed off into a mixture of seasoned and new French oak puncheons (20% new, 30% one year old, 50% two year old) where it matures for 20 months before bottling, without filtration.

2014 Trig Hill Tempranillo

A gorgeous expression of this classic Spanish grape, it is sweetly fragrant on the nose showing blackberry, plum, cocoa, vanilla, cedar and black olive notes, leading to a succulent and concentrated palate that is supple and fleshy. The wine is beautifully rounded and persistent with loads of delectable flavours. Very long and sumptuous. At its best: now to 2020. $40.00. Certified organic. 5 Stars - Sam Kim
