2019 Rock Ferry The Corners Vineyard Grüner Veltliner

Region:

Rapaura, Wairau Plains, Marlborough, New Zealand.

Viticulture:

Our aim in the vineyard is to grow the best fruit we can so it can speak of its home and express its personality. To do this you need healthy vines and soil. By practicing organics and incorporating some biodynamic principles we believe we are doing our best to help achieve this and let our vineyards evolve and speak as they would like.

Winemaking:

The grapes were hand harvested, bunch sorted, and gently whole bunch pressed. The free run portion was settled for 24 hours, and the cloudy juice was transferred to 225L barrels (70% stainless steel and 30% seasoned oak) for fermentation. The yeasts used were half indigenous and half cultured. The wine was left on full ferment lees for 8 months prior to racking and bottling.

Tasting notes:

This Grüner Veltliner has a complex bouquet of pear drops, spice, and musk with a soft palate of citrus, lemon sherbet, and white pepper characters finishing with a crisp acidity.

Technical:

Alcohol - 12.5%. pH - 3.20. TA - 7.2g/l. RS - 3.5g/l. Contains sulphites. Certified organic.
