Rock Ferry 3rd Rock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Our aim in the vineyard is to grow the best fruit we can so it can speak of its home and express its personality. To do this you need healthy vines and soil. By practicing organics and incorporating some biodynamic principles we believe we are doing our best to help achieve this and let our vineyards evolve and speak as they would like. 2017 was a dull, damp season and very viticulturally challenging.
The grapes were machine harvested and the free run juice was lightly settled for 24 hours before being racked. Two cultured yeast strains were used to ferment the wine ,each promoting the distinctive aromatics for which Marlborough Sauvignon blanc is famous for. After fermentation the wine was racked and matured on fine lees for 6 months prior to bottling.
This complex Sauvignon has aromas of tropical fruits with subtle herbaceous hints. On the palate you are greeted with a touch of sweetness to begin with which moves to passionfruit and lime notes as well as traditional gooseberry. There is a delightful soft texture through the wine which allows for an elegant finish.
